Chihuahua Valley is located in the north, central section of San Diego County. It is probably some of the most beautiful property that is still relatively unspoiled and yet reasonably priced in the backcountry. What makes it so special: millions of stars at night, quiet in the day, miles of unspoiled legislated riding and hiking trails, friendly community, four seasons, 45 minutes from Temecula, one hour from Julian and Ramona, ½ hour from Warner Springs hot springs and a golf course to name a few wonders of this area that is 4000 feet above sea level. Chihuahua Valley Road is a dead end road that is 6.5 miles long off route 79. The residents that live here are writers, painters, teachers, wood workers, hobbyists and those that commute to local towns for work. Since the valley is only a couple of hours away from both metropolitan areas and Palm Springs, a number of residents come for the weekend, the majority of the permanent residents are retired or semi-retired living their dreams. However, With the age of internet and satellites, more young families are moving in looking for a more wholesome environment to bring up their children.
Historically, the valley was high-country cattle grazing land. Before that, Native Americans hunted and collected acorns from the many oaks in the valley. Indian grinding stones remain in many areas around the valley. This serene valley is surrounded by mountains that are BLM land that naturally limits growth. Property sizes range from 5 acre lots to many hundred acres. The California Riding and Hiking Trail runs along Chihuahua Valley Road going to Anza in one direction and the other direction leads right into Cleveland National Forest and the Pacific Crest Trail making this area one of the most perfect spots for hikers as well as trail and endurance riders. There is no shortage of pure wonderful well water since this is the headwaters for Lake Henshaw and other reservoirs.
